Canoe & Kayaking

The Driftless Region is known for its beautiful scenery. Take it all in on a canoe or kayak excursion!

Day 1:

9:00 – head over to Ellistone Canoe Rental in Rockland, Wisconsin to get everything you need to kayak or canoe including paddles and life jackets. www.ellistonecanoerental.com (608) 343-5696, all trips scheduled by reservation only.

9:30 – start canoeing at Fishermans Park and finish at Amundson Park in Sparta.

11:30 – enjoy lunch at Ginny’s Cupboard. Have a memorable meal in the downtown historic district with locally sourced ingredients featuring a functioning 1957 soda fountain, one of only 12 in the state! (608) 269-6669.

7:30 – head over to the Cotter Pin in Leon just 5 miles south of Sparta and enjoy a variety of wines and craft beers (608) 487-8118.

Day 2:

8:00 – grab a coffee or refreshing smoothie before today’s excursion at Franklin Coffeehouse.

1:00 – enjoy lunch at the Silent Outdoors Bar and Grill and try out their famous Buffalo and Elk Burgers! After your meal, try your hand at archery at the Silent Outdoors Archery Pro Shop, an archery retailer that includes an indoor 30 range, indoor techno video hunt, outdoor 3D range and more. 7:30 – finish your day with a sunset stroll across Sparta’s Unique Community Bridges, including the Beaver Creek Covered Bridge, Mary Morrows Bridge, the Pointe Covered Bridge, and the Ben Bikin’ Park Footbridge. Day 3:
